UL Standards

UL Panel ShopUL Standards encompass UL's extensive safety research, scientific expertise and uncompromising focus on quality. UL Standards are used to assess products, test components, materials, systems and performance; and evaluate environmentally sustainable products, renewable energies, food and water products, recycling systems and other innovative technologies.

Currently, GTH manufactures custom control panels out of our two UL508A Panel Shops in California and Nevada. Recently, we have added UL698A in California which allows us to manufacture panels for hazardous locations. Both of our shops comply with industry standards and utilize best practice procedures and our team of qualified manufacturing engineers see every panel through from design to installation.

UL 508A - Standard for Industrial Control Panels
These requirements cover industrial control panels intended for general industrial use, operating from a voltage of 600 volts or less. This equipment is intended for installation in ordinary locations, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, where the ambient temperature does not exceed 40C (104F) maximum. UL 698A - Standard for Industrial Control Panels Relating to Hazardous (Classified) Locations
These requirements cover industrial control panels intended for general industrial use and installation in unclassified locations with intrinsically safe circuit extensions into Class I, II and III, Division 1 and 2; and Class I, Zone 0, 1 and 2 hazardous (classified) locations in accordance with Article 500, 504 and 505 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70. UL 1203 - Explosion-Proof and Dust-Ignition-Proof Electrical Equipment for Use in Hazardous Locations
These requirements cover explosion-proof and dust-ignition-proof electrical equipment for installation and use in hazardous (classified) locations, Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, and D, and Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G, in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.Learn more about UL 1203.

UL 60079-2 - Explosive Atmospheres - Part 2: Equipment Protection by Pressurized Enclosure "p
This part of IEC 60079 contains the specific requirements for the construction and testing of electrical apparatus with pressurized enclosures, of type of protection "p, intended for use in explosive gas atmospheres. It specifies requirements for pressurized enclosures containing a limited release of a flammable substance. This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of IEC 60079-0, the requirements of this standard takes precedence. Learn more about UL 60079-2.
